Hello Everyone!
I hope you all are having a great Summer! My name is Christi and I'm so excited to be going to Africa on my first mission trip this September! I'm married and a stay at home mom to three great kids...all boys...ages 6, 9 and 11 and they keep me running!! Life is crazy but wonderful and I can't believe I'll be leaving my babies to go half way around the world!!! I have been praying a lot over the past year or so for the Lord to use me and to help me step outside of my comfort zone and He is using my desire to help the people of Africa to do it.
Our church is sending a team of us to the village of Kaihura, Uganda to develop relationships with local leaders so that we may identify the needs of the community with the primary focus being widows and the children of the local orphanage.
Time and time again, throughout God's word, we are told to care for the widows and orphans of the world. Some may ask why we would go so far to do work that is also needed here at home but the body of Christ knows no bounds. Mark 16:15 tells us, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. So, therefore, by being obedient by going where He leads us to go and ministering to our brothers and sisters in Christ, we can share with them the tools they need to carry out God's work in their own communities and across Africa. But He doesn't stop there. By using us to bless others, we are blessed in return by growing in our relationship with Him.
So, now we prepare. We pray, we raise funds, we pack and pray some more.
